Agricultural Careers You Didn't Expect!

When choosing a career, you may become more focused on what degree you think you must get to obtain that career. Getting an agriculture degree is one of the best ways to go. You can get almost any job with an ag degree. Here are a few that you may not think of when you think of an agriculture degree.
HEAD TO DENTAL SCHOOL
Agricultural degrees that are considered Pre-Vet or Pre-Professional will contain a curriculum that meets the requirements for most professional schools. In the College of Agriculture at Auburn University, three departments hold Pre-Vet programs, so you can pursue dental school after majoring in Poultry Science, Fisheries, or Animal Sciences.
TAKE THE BAR
Every agricultural degree at Auburn University meets the requirements for law school. Just last year, John Allen Nicols, Class of '16, completed his B.S. in Poutlry Science and is currently enrolled in Faulkner Jones School of Law in Montgomery, Alabama. He chose to pursue law school after his poultry based internship in Washington D.C., where he worked with the National Turkey Federation to represent growers on the hill.
COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
Many agricultural corporations and companies have a person specially assigned to handle all social media, advertisements, and promotions. An Agriculture Communications degree is a perfect fit for the requirements and preparation of attaining one of these positions. When you choose to major in Agricultural Communications, you can also minor in other majors on Ag Hill, giving you special training in a specific field.
LOAN OFFICER
Most of us picture Ag majors harvesting crops, handling large animals or getting their hands dirty in the field. Sometimes peers on campus just don't know that a degree in ag can has so many different career pathways. Did you know that an Agricultural Economics degree is a great way to meet the requirements of becoming a loan officer? I know, but it's true!
