For some students, it's a controversial choice: to live on campus in the dorms, or off campus on their own. But the truth is, they both have their perks!
On-Campus Perks:
In the heart of campus, you are closer to classes, events, and study resources. So you can swing by your Peer Mentor, grab a bite to eat, and never miss a campus event.
You don’t have to worry about the extra utility bills, water bills or internet bills.
Exciting events are held close to your residence hall.
Living in the dorms groups you with other students in different majors and backgrounds. If you pick the dorm life, you'll have more opportunities to make friends outside of your comfort zone.
Less chores (you just have to keep your room tidy) = more study time. Right?
Off-Campus Perks:
You are not restricted to quiet hours.
You have quick access to a kitchen; you could even try out Dr. Bell's famous mac 'n cheese recipe!
You automatically have more privacy.
It can be cheaper than living in the dorms. When you do your research on places to live, you can pick from a range of apartments in Auburn, to find the price you want to pay. Choosing an apartment with fewer amenities can reduce the cost of living here for college!
You have a space to separate you from school. When you start to feel overwhelmed or like you need some "time off" an apartment off campus might give you a break from the busy campus atmosphere.
So, when deciding which way you want to go, take a look at this list and decide which of these perks best suit you. Then, you have a good idea on which one to choose.
